NORTHERN MANITOBA

Northern Manitoba, while not an industry sector, is a geographic region where there are major employers in mining, forestry and energy. Several large mining and energy projects in the north are increasing the requirements for construction jobs and as noted in the Construction section, there will be increasing demand through 2016, leveling off as some projects wrap up.

Projects like the proposed Keeyask Project and Conawapa Generating Station are significant. Manitoba Hydro is also assessing the feasibility of using small hydro on  four remote northern Manitoba communities. These Energy projects alone will require thousands of new workers.
